About Caspian:

Caspian is a pioneer in bringing capital to for-profit socially relevant business since 2005. Some of our early investments include Ujjivan Bank, Equitas Bank, Micro Housing Finance. We have a deep understanding of the issues leading to the slow pace of formalization of credit to micro, small and mid-size businesses.

In 2013 we set up our own lending platform, called Caspian Impact Investments Private Limited (CIIPL). CII is a registered NBFC backed by reputed investors like SIDBI Venture Capital, Gray Ghost Ventures (US based family office), FMO (Dutch Govt Development Finance Institution), Triodos Investment Management, OPIC (US Govt DFI) etc. CII provides debt between INR 5 Mn to INR 200 Mn using a variety of debt instruments to meet specific financing needs of our clients. CII provides the entire range of financing solutions like term loans, working capital loans, venture debt, receivables finance, purchase order finance and bill discounting etc. using an investment approach rather than a product approach.

Over the past 5 years, CIIPL has provided debt finance of about INR 9.5 Bn to over 100 small and medium corporates, across several high impact sectors like food & agriculture, financial inclusion, healthcare, clean energy, education, drinking water, etc. We have developed a good understanding of what works and what is scalable.
